Everything you need to know about Wenzo, your data, and how it all works.
Getting Started
What is Wenzo?
Wenzo is a cloud accounting platform built for the UK. It connects to your bank account via Open Banking, automatically categorises your transactions, and gives your accountant real-time access to your books. No spreadsheets, no data entry, no end-of-year panic.
Who is Wenzo for?
Wenzo is designed for UK sole traders, landlords, and small limited companies. If you run a business and want clean books without the complexity of enterprise accounting software, Wenzo is for you.
How much does it cost?
Free to get started. No credit card required. Create your account, connect your bank, and start organising your finances straight away.
Do I need an accountant to use Wenzo?
No. You can use Wenzo on your own to keep your finances organised. That said, it works best when paired with an accountant who can review your books, handle submissions, and give you tailored advice. You can invite your accountant at any time from your account settings.
Security & Privacy
Is my financial data safe?
Yes. Your data is protected with 256-bit AES encryption -- the same standard used by banks. All data is stored exclusively in UK data centres. Wenzo is fully GDPR compliant and registered with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office).
Can Wenzo access my bank account?
Wenzo can only read your transactions. We cannot move money, make payments, or see your bank login details. This is how Open Banking works -- it provides read-only access to your transaction history. Your bank controls the connection at all times.
What is Open Banking?
Open Banking is a UK government-backed initiative regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). It lets you securely share your transaction data with authorised services like Wenzo. Over 7 million people in the UK already use Open Banking. Your bank -- whether that is Monzo, Barclays, HSBC, or any other -- controls the connection. You can revoke access at any time directly from your banking app.
Who can see my data?
Only you and any accountant you explicitly authorise. We never share, sell, or provide access to your financial data to any third party. Your data is yours.
Where is my data stored?
Exclusively in UK data centres. Your financial data never leaves the country.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete individual documents at any time from your account. If you choose to close your account entirely, all data is permanently removed within 30 days.
Bank Connection
Which banks are supported?
Most major UK banks are supported, including Monzo, Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, Starling, Halifax, and many more. We connect through Open Banking, which covers the vast majority of UK current accounts and business accounts.
How do I connect my bank?
Sign up for an account, then click "Connect Bank". You will be redirected to your bank's own secure login page to authorise read-only access. The whole process takes under 60 seconds. At no point does Wenzo see or handle your bank login credentials.
Can I disconnect my bank?
Yes, at any time. You can disconnect from within Wenzo, or revoke access directly from your banking app. Either way, we immediately lose the ability to read new transactions.
Do you store my bank login details?
Never. When you connect your bank, you authenticate directly with your bank on their secure page. We never see, receive, or store your banking username, password, or security credentials.
Documents & Receipts
What documents can I upload?
Invoices, receipts, bank statements, and tax documents such as P60s, P45s, and P11Ds. We support PDF, JPG, and PNG files. Simply upload from your computer or take a photo on your phone.
Are my uploaded documents secure?
Yes. All documents are encrypted both at rest and in transit. Only you and any accountant you have explicitly authorised can access them. Nobody else -- including Wenzo staff -- can view your files.
Can I download my documents back?
Yes. Every document you upload can be downloaded at any time. Your data belongs to you, and you always have full access to it.
Your Account
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. There are no contracts and no cancellation fees. You can export your data and close your account whenever you want.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
You can export everything first. After you delete your account, all data -- transactions, documents, and account details -- is permanently removed within 30 days. Nothing is retained.
Is Wenzo a regulated company?
Wenzo is a trading name of ONAF Limited, registered in England and Wales. Our Open Banking provider, Finexer, is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). This means every bank connection goes through an FCA-authorised and regulated intermediary.
